Hydroseeding is a process of combing slurry and mulch to cultivate an environment conducive to vegetation. Hydroseeding also controls erosion. Fertilizer, lime, biostimulants, moisture retention polymers, tackifiers, other additives, water, and a hydroseeding mulch are combined and sprayed on the ground.

For over a decade, Dobis Landscaping has been providing the highest quality lawn care, landscaping, fertilizing and pest control services to our customers in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Hydroseeding mulch is biodegradable in the soil; whereas straw or hay applied over conventional seeding needs to be collected once the lawn is established.

First, we condition the soil and compact it. We leave the top 1/2 inch loose so it will accept the hydroseed’s nutrients. The hydroseed mixture uses tackifier, a glue-like substance that adheres ingredients together when it’s applied. This is a one-step process, making it cost-effective. Seed can be customized to the specific landscape, such as shaded or sunny areas in your yard.

How it works
Hydroseeding is mulch used as a growth medium for seeds. The mulch provides moisture retention for faster germination, insulation from extreme temperatures to prevent dormancy, and protects against erosion. The slurry’s make up can be adjusted to create a growth environment tailored to specific seeds. Another advantage is labor savings. The slurry comes with the ingredients already combined so it can be applied at the same time. Traditional methods require ingredients to be applied one at a time.
